Democrats ran into strong headwinds on November 2 when Republicans in Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Long Island and many other places came out victorious from the election. President Joe Biden's weak approval rating caused and will continue to bring problems for Democrats ahead of the midterm election next year. Significant numbers of swing voters who supported Biden in 2020 voted Republican in 2021.
